Hit drama Prisoners' Wives is returning to BBC1 - and bringing with it a host of new faces.
Series regulars Polly Walker - who plays Francesca, the troubled wife of a mob boss - and Pippa Haywood - who stars as quiet mother Harriet - will be joined by two new prison WAGS, Kim and Aisling.
Shameless star Sally Carman plays Kim, a dedicated mother and wife of a man falsely accused of a terrible crime, while Lightfields and Misfits actress Karla Crome stars as Aisling, a young woman desperate to make sure her dad gets out of the prison in time for her wedding.
The second series will see Francesca become more involved in her husband's dark criminal underworld while struggling to keep her family together with little money and no home - and Harriet will start to find self confidence and embark on a new romance.
The four-part Sheffield based drama is written by Julie Gearey who said of the new series: “It’s been very exciting to return to the world of Prisoners’ Wives and have the opportunity to create fresh stories for Francesca and Harriet and introduce our brand new characters, Kim and Aisling. The second season will continue the mix of compelling character driven stories with some dark twists and more than a little romance."
The ensemble drama will not see the return of Hollyoaks alumni Emma Rigby, Robin Hood star Jonas Armstrong or Natalie Gavin, who is set to appear in the second series of BBC1's The Syndicate.
