Star Trek Into Darkness to be released in UK before America

J.J. Abrams' film starring Sherlock's Benedict Cumberbatch, Chris Pine, Zoe Salanda, Karl Urban, Alice Eve and Simon Pegg will be released a week earlier than expected

The UK release date of J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness has been moved forward by a week.

Instead of 17 May, the film – which stars Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch, Chris Pine, Zoe Salanda, Karl Urban, Alice Eve and Simon Pegg – will now be released on 9 May, seven days before it hits US cinemas.

British star of the film Simon Pegg took to twitter, saying:

Star Trek Into Darkness comes three years after J.J. Abrams’ successful movie Star Trek. Star Trek Into Darkness will see the crew of the Enterprise pitted against a force of terror from within.
