Royle Family creator Caroline Aherne based her entire BBC1 series around a clan gathering on the sofa to watch TV – and now she’s narrating a Channel 4 show about real-life families doing exactly the same.

Gogglebox provides viewers with a peek inside the living rooms of people around the country as they watch everything from soaps to gripping drama, entertainment to documentaries, and give their very honest reactions to them.

The ten families taking part range from a Liverpool couple in their late 70s to gay partners from Brighton, a north London family with two teenage kids to a household of three sisters from Essex.

Aherne, who played Denise in The Royle Family, will narrate the four-party series, which starts at 10pm on Thursday 7 March on Channel 4.

Meet some of the families, and see their reactions to a variety of shows, in the clip below.
