Hilary Swank and Brenda Blethyn star in Richard Curtis’ Mary and Martha, which will air on 1 March on BBC1.
Swank plays Mary and Blethyn plays Martha in the TV film directed by Phillip Noyce and written by Four Weddings and a Funeral creator Richard Curtis. Both play women who have lost their sons to malaria. In the aftermath of their loss the pair set about trying to raise awareness of the disease and soon find themselves being drawn together.
Double Academy Award winner Hilary Swank has appeared in The Resident, P.S. I Love You and Million Dollar Baby while Brenda Blethyn has starred in Atonement, Pride and Prejudice and Vera.
