Birdsong star Clémence Poésy has been cast alongside Game of Thrones' Stephen Dillane in Sky Atlantic's remake of Scandinavian crime drama The Bridge.
The Tunnel, which has been adapted by Spooks writer Ben Richards, is based on hit Scandinavian drama The Bridge but focusses on relations between France and the UK instead of Denmark and Sweden.
Clémence Poésy will star as Elise Wassermann, while Stephen Dilliane will play Karl Roebuck. Both Wassermann and Roebuck are detectives called in to investigate the discovery of a prominent French politician found dead on the border between the UK and France. As the duo are drawn into an uneasy partnership, they find themselves on the hunt for serial killer.
Joseph Mawle, who appeared in both Game of Thrones and Birdsong, will also appear in the remake as social worker Stephen Beaumont. Thibault de Montalembert, Merlin's Angel Coulby, Mrs Biggs' Adam Roebuck, Keeley Hawes, Liz Smith, Tom Bateman, Tobi Bakare and Jeanne Balibar are also set to perform in the drama.
Poésy played Fleur Delacour in the Harry Potter films and more recently starred alongside Eddie Redmayne in the BBC1 adaptation of Sebastian Faulks' war novel Birdsong. Dilliane currently plays Stannis Baratheon in gory historical drama Game of Thrones and has recently appeared in Secret State and Hunted.
Production for The Tunnel, which is a co-production with French company Canal+, is set to start this month and the ten part series will air on Sky Atlantic later this year.
