Corrie stars Jennie McAlpine and Andy Whyment have been talking about the appointment of new producer Stuart Blackburn, who has recently taken over from Phil Collinson on the ITV soap.

When asked backstage at the NTAs about what the future holds, actress McAlpine – who plays Fiz Stape - commented: “We’ve got a new producer who’s come in. He’s going to put his ideas into it. And I’m sure he’s going to shake things up a bit. It’s going to be good.”

Co-star Andy Whyment, aka Kirk Sutherland, added: “We’ve both been there 12 years now. Generally, producers only stay for two to three years maximum, anyway. You just go in and carry on doing what you’ve been doing. That’s all you can do.”
