Dancing on Ice bosses are said to be in a state of shock after losing their biggest signing, ex-Baywatch and former Playboy star Pamela Anderson, in the first week of the new series.
Pamela and long-standing DoI pro skater Matt Evers lost out in the first skate-off to TV star Keith Chegwin, who’d only scored a 15.5 with partner Olga Sharutenko in his first skate – the lowest of the night.
Pammy stumbled during her skate-off dance, getting caught in her dress which resulted in a flash of her nipple cover-clad bust (a sure fire way to week two, one would think!). But the judges stood firm and even her original skating score of 18.5 – and the fact that both Matt and skating guru Christopher Dean had flown to LA to train Pammy – wasn’t enough to convince judges Ashley Roberts, Karen Barber, Jason Gardiner and a redundant but agreeing head judge Robin Cousins that she should stay. Well, at least there can be no complaints of a fixed show, eh?
So, Keith, with his I’ve-turned-down-every-other-reality-show ways, lives to skate another day and Pamela – who reportedly cost the show £1,000 per second on the ice, thanks to a whopping £150,000 fee – is footloose and skate-free.
But while the judges may have saved Keith, it was a lack of viewer votes that unceremoniously dumped American superstar Pammy into the bottom two, suggesting she’s just not what viewers are looking for. Perhaps as the bleak January nights set in, we’re not keen on big boobs and tiny dresses, when a jolly dancing egg can keep us entertained. Or, it could be romance we’re after…
Although Matt greeted Pamela with flowers and a zealous, “Shut the front door, it’s Pamela frikking Anderson”, there’s been no talk of off-rink romance between these two. Instead, the watchful eye of the public has fallen on Corrie star Samia Ghadie and her skating partner Sylvain Longchambon, who both recently left their long-term partners, fuelling rumours of a love affair. Of course, Sylvain’s ex being none other than Hollyoaks hottie Jennifer Metcalfe, who he partnered in the series two years ago, only makes the supposed story more intriguing.
Samia addressed the rumours in the first show, saying the tabloid attention was “unwanted”, although it probably doesn’t help that she keeps tweeting about feeling so safe in Sylvain’s “#amazing arms”. Meanwhile, Jennifer is said to have broken her silence over the split, reportedly telling The Sun on Sunday, “He told me on the phone that Samia and himself had a conversation about their feelings for each other,” adding, “I think he’s got carried away.” Oo-er!
Slightly less attention-grabbing, but still amusing in a “Shuttt uuupp” kind of way, is that, according to The Sun, Lauren Goodger is in trouble with show bosses – before she’s even managed her first performance – for tweeting during the live show. Come on guys, if will.i.am can get away with it throughout The Voice, surely Lauren’s allowed to show us her outfits and tell us the all important news (such as how to get a LG Twibbon on our Twitter pages).
Former X Factor winner Shayne Ward is also said to have made the shock revelation that he hopes the show will bring attention back to his singing career – and gymnast Beth Tweddle has been rather open about loving her own bum in an interview with Now magazine. All we need now is for Gareth Thomas to tell us he’s releasing his own fitness DVD nationwide. Oh, wait…
