Muppet Treasure Island - 9.00am, BBC1

A talking frog and a diva sow are the unlikely protagonists of this adaption of Robert Louis Stevenson's pirate saga. Textbook Muppet frolics, with cameos from Billy Connolly, Jennifer Saunders and Tim Curry.

The Sound of Music - 3.10pm, BBC1

A wise man once said: "High on the hill was a lonely goat-herd, yodle-ay-yodle-ay-yodle-ay-hee-hoo". Well that wise man may have been Julie Andrews, but this essential sing-along will have you running for the hills and climbing every mountain. In a good way.

Catch Me If You Can - 7.00pm, BBC2

Director Steven Spielberg is back on flying form in this intricately weaved tale about fraudster Frank Abagnale Jr. An excellent cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks and Christopher Walken.

Julie & Julia - 9.15pm, BBC2

Biographical drama following two women whose lives are inextricably linked by cooking. Meryl Streep is energetic Julia Child, an early doyenne of home cooking.

Bridget Jones's Diary - 10.00pm, ITV1

Would the holiday season ever be complete without Mark Darcy's reindeer jumper, Daniel Cleaver's treachery or those giant knickers? Renee Zellweger is the perfect spinster between super-duo Hugh Grant and Colin Firth.

Sexy Beast - 11.10pm, Film4

Late night gangster drama starring Ray Winstone as a retired crook living it up on the Costa del Crime. Violent, riveting and at times improbable, but worth the view for Ben Kingsley's turn as a psychopathic hard-man.
