The Nightmare Before Christmas – 9.10am, BBC2

Tim Burton turns Christmas on its head in this sugar-free animated musical drama. All hell breaks loose when Santa Claus is kidnapped by the mastermind of Halloween.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit – 10.20am, BBC2

Part-animated detective comedy starring Bob Hoskins, with appearances by a wealth of cartoon favourites, including Daffy Duck, Mickey Mouse and Betty Boop.

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York – 2.50pm, C4

Child star Macaulay Culkin is back with another instalment of unsupervised shenanigans. The hapless kid somehow manages to lose his parents again, and ends up alone in New York.

Nativity! – 3.55pm, BBC2

Partly improvised festive madness from the makers of Confetti. Martin Freeman is a harassed teacher in charge of the school’s nativity play. And he hates Christmas.

The Grinch – 4.45pm, ITV1

Jim Carrey is the miserable and madcap Grinch hell-bent on wrecking Christmas in the kooky town of Whoville. Comedy fantasy based on the book by Dr Seuss.

Lady and the Tramp – 5.05pm, BBC1

A classic tale of falling in love with someone from the other side of the tracks, it’s the animated Disney musical that immortalized the romantic use of spaghetti and meatballs.

The Thomas Crown Affair – 10.00pm, C5

Steamy and stylish heist drama, starring Pierce Brosnan as a millionaire with a penchant for art theft.
