Those of us who haven't yet managed to get to the cinema for The Hobbit, which is preceded by the opening nine minutes of Star Trek: Into Darkness, will have to content ourselves for now with this extended trailer featuring almost 60 seconds more footage than the initial teaser.

There are glimpses of what looks like the fight scene between Benedict Cumberbatch's villain John Harrison and Zachary Quinto's Spock which was first leaked from the greenscreen set back in February, as well as the wider crew of the Enterprise and some nice shots of the corridors and bridge of a star ship, eerily empty.

Kirk (Chris Pine) also gets a telling off from Captain Pike – "There's greatness in you, but there's not an ounce of humility" – before we hear that now familiar voiceover from Cumberbatch: "You think you're safe... You are not..."
