BBC2's new drama The Girl is hitting our screens on Boxing Day. The ninety minute long dramatisation - starring Sienna Miller and Toby Jones - documents the tempestuous relationship between actress Tippi Hedren and film maker Alfred Hitchcock. 

Unknown model Tippi Hedren is overjoyed when she is picked by Hitchcock to play the leading role in jumpy thriller The Birds, but soon the renowned director becomes fixated on her and his obsession develops into something dark and sadistic. 

The Girl also stars Imelda Staunton and Downton Abbey actress Penelope Wilton.

The Girl is on Boxing Day at 9:00pm on BBC2
