Wills and Kate: Baby Fever – Channel 5 gets Royal Baby documentary on air fast

The broadcaster looks like being the first of many channels preparing to ride the wave of interest in the royal pregnancy

Channel 5 is the first major broadcaster to jump aboard the royal baby bandwagon with the appopriately titled Wills and Kate: Baby Fever, showing tonight at 7pm.

The documentary was first aired in September, and has been updated following yesterday’s announcement that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their first child.

It promises input from “royal experts, insiders and historians” in a bid to uncover what it takes to raise a monarch, while “fashion experts” will provide that all-important analysis of what Kate will be wearing over her baby bump.

Just over 600,000 people watched the programme on it’s first pre-announcement showing. Channel 5 will no doubt be expectant themselves ahead of tonight’s timely airing.

And it looks likely that the broadcaster’s offering will be just the tip of the baby ‘berg, with ITV having made their own happy announcement – their Royal Babies is set to air at 7pm on New Year’s Day.
