Over the last few years we’ve seen a whole host of popular musicals based on movies open in London’s West End. Legally Blonde ran for three years at the Savoy, Shrek's mid-run at Drury Lane and Sister Act enjoyed more than a year’s tenure at the London Palladium.

The latest film to be turned into an all-singing, all-dancing live show is the 1992 Whitney Houston/Kevin Costner romantic drama The Bodyguard, which forms the basis of a new musical starring Heather Headley  recently seen on stage at this year’s Royal Variety Performance  and Monarch of the Glen’s Lloyd Owen.

We talked to Owen about bringing an “enduring, fascinating” story to the stage...

The Bodyguard is previewing at the Adelphi Theatre, London WC2 and opens on December 5. Tickets can be booked online at thebodyguardmusical.com or by phone on 0844 5790094.
