Over the last few years we’ve seen a whole host of popular musicals based on movies open in London’s West End. Legally Blonde ran for three years at the Savoy, Shrek's mid-run at Drury Lane and Sister Act enjoyed more than a year’s tenure at the London Palladium.
The latest film to be turned into an all-singing, all-dancing live show is the 1992 Whitney Houston/Kevin Costner romantic drama The Bodyguard, which forms the basis of a new musical starring Heather Headley – recently seen on stage at this year’s Royal Variety Performance – and Monarch of the Glen’s Lloyd Owen.
