Now she appears to have mastered the Bushtucker Trial - could it be she's been leading us all up the garden path with her fear of, well, everything?

THE RUMOUR:

Helen “I’m going to scream at everything and say that I have a phobia of anything conceivable” Flanagan has been faking it.  Despite the fact she has nearly starved the rest of the camp to death by doing very badly/ not doing the relentless Bushtucker Trials for the first week – in reality it’s all been an act.

That’s because, when push comes to shove (ie everyone in the camp says they’re going to get her if she doesn’t get them some food), Helen was able to achieve a maximum 12 star haul to save her own skin.  Coincidence or careful planning?

QUOTE FROM A SHOW INSIDER WHO PROBABLY DOESN'T EXIST:

“We’ve been keeping a very close eye on Helen and have been quite worried about her at times, but this was such a dramatic turn-around it has got everyone wondering if she might be playing more of a game than we had previously realised.

“She may well have believed that all the nervous routines and mini-meltdowns would win favour with the public, but once that didn’t work, she has tried a different tactic and gone to the other extreme.

“She is an actress after all. Maybe she’s more talented than people realised.” (Mirror)

ANOTHER QUOTE FROM A SHOW INSIDER WHO PROBABLY DOESN'T EXIST:

“I’m pretty convinced that Helen has been faking some of her hysterics – however much she denies it.

“It’s Gillian McKeith all over again. Helen is playing a game – she’s cleverer than anyone has given her credit for.

“She could really use this show to boost her career and everyone out here now thinks she’s got a plan in place to do exactly that and keep herself on screen for as long as possible.” (Mirror)

RADIOTIMES.COM VERDICT: 3/5.

Helen is a flamboyant character who is used to being the centre of attention, and in soapland acting like a drama queen obviously gets her the attention she craves.  However, in the jungle, she has slowly become less popular after each failed attempt at the trials – so even at the tender age of 22 she has begun to learn that success - rather than failure - is what is going to earn her love in the jungle.

Yes, she’s been hamming it up a bit in the first week – but having seen Corrie, honestly, we’re not sure she’s a good enough actress for it ALL to have been fake…
