Criminals down in "Lahndahn Tahn" will doubtless be quaking in their boots at the sight of this picture, which proves that DCI John Luther’s back on his beat.
The snap was posted to the official Luther Twitter account earlier on today, with the succinct announcement: “And the Luther 3 shoot begins...”
Luther’s third run, we are told, will consist of four “perfectly dark, chillingly-formed episodes”.
BBC America is helping out with production on the new series, which will see Idris Elba star as the troubled cop alongside Warren Brown (Justin Ripley), Dermot Crowley (Schenk), Nikki Amuka-Bird (Erin Gray) and Michael Smiley (Benny Silver).
In March, Luther’s co-creator Neil Cross revealed that the show’s third series will be its last, telling BBC Radio 4 that there could be no topping the ending that’s been worked out for series three.
He said: “The final scene of the final episode is great and we wouldn’t want to continue. I love an ending. I have a weakness for a powerful and moving ending. We’ll go out big and leave it at that.”
