Summary
"I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!" is a reality game show that sees celebrities dropped into a jungle environment. In return for giving up a few of life's luxuries and participating in a series of challenges, the well-known faces bask in the publicity the show generates and raise funds for their nominated charities. The money is in part raised by allowing viewers to vote for the contestant they would like to complete a Bushtucker Trial, a physical task that usually involves the celebrity facing a phobia such as snakes, spiders, heights or eating jungle creatures. Later on, funds are boosted by a viewers' vote on who to keep in the show. The ITV programme has been presented since its inception in 2002 by Ant and Dec, who broadcast from an open-air studio overlooking the jungle. The first "King of the Jungle" was DJ Tony Blackburn. Ex-cricketer Phil Tufnell won the second series and reality star Kerry Katona became the first "Queen of the Jungle" in series three. Subsequent runs have been won by comedian Joe Pasquale, journalist Carol Thatcher, singer Matt Willis, comedy actor Christopher Biggins, former "EastEnders" star Joe Swash, celebrity chef Gino D'Acampo, "X Factor" finalist Stacey Solomon, and McFly's Dougie Poynter.
