Fern Britton became the latest casualty of Strictly's dreaded dance-off on Sunday night's results show.
Despite notching up their highest score of the series and wowing viewers with their sassy and sexy salsa to You’ll Be Mine (Party Time) by Gloria Estefan on Saturday night, daytime TV darling Fern and her partner Artem Chigvintsev were left languishing at the bottom of the leader board.
And when the viewers' votes were combined with the judges' scores on Sunday, the couple found themselves facing the dance-off against shock inclusion Kimberley Walsh.
Prior to the public vote, the Girls Aloud star and her partner Pasha had been in third place. But the viewers at home clearly didn't agree with the judges or the studio audience, who had given the couple a standing ovation following Saturday night's Viennese Waltz to A Thousand Years by Christina Perri.
Following the dance-off, the judges unanimously agreed that Kimberley should stay in the competition. Craig Revel Horwood told viewers that saving Kimberly over Fern was a "no-brainer" while Darcey said, "the cleanest performance for me was Kimberley and Pasha" and Bruno agreed, adding: "With all due respect I thought one couple really was outstanding - and that couple is Kimberley and Pasha."
After comforting a teary Kimberley, Fern said of her time in Strictly: "This is the best party on the television. The best programme in the world. And I'm thrilled to have been part of it."
