Benedict Cumberbatch in talks to join Monty Python movie

The Sherlock star has been targeted for the role of a school teacher with magical powers

As if the prospect of a new Monty Python-related film wasn’t enough, it seems the man of the moment, Benedict Cumberbatch, is in talks to star in the upcoming movie.

Co-written by Terry Jones, who will also direct, Absolutely Anything is the story of a school teacher gifted with special powers by a group of aliens, voiced by Jones and fellow Pythons Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin and John Cleese.

Gemma Arterton has been confirmed  for the project, reports Hollywood site The Wrap, while Cumberbatch is in negotations to play the teacher, whose powers cause chaos as he wipes out badly behaved pupils and brings the dead back to life with the wave of a hand.

Absolutely Anything is expected to begin filming in early 2013.
