THE RUMOUR:The X Factor‘s tenth series, in 2013, will be the last! Amid very mildly disappointing ratings (a paltry 8 million people are watching it this year – basically it might as well be on Sky Arts 2), Simon Cowell has decided to bow out while the going’s reasonably good. The source for this is as impeccable as they come: Sinitta. “I’m told next year is going to be the last. It’ll have been ten years,” the former Cowell companion and sometime judges’ houses mentor (not this year though) told Closer magazine.
QUOTE FROM A “SOURCE” WHO PROBABLY DOESN’T EXIST: “There are no plans for it to end. It is one of the most successful shows in Britain.” (The Sun)
RADIOTIMES.COM TRUTH RATING: 1/5. It’s not the same show since Cowell went to America, the current deal with ITV expires in 2013, and it looks like the Gary Barlow experiment is reaching a natural end – but the whole show, ending next year? Nah. What if they miss out on 2014’s answer to One Direction or Paije Richardson? We give it two more years at least…
