The world of pop is waiting with baited breath for the much-anticipated announcement from Girls Aloud at midday today, expected to reveal details of their official comeback 

This afternoon's press conference has been trailed for the last ten days with a special countdown on the band's official website, alongside their Twitter account which has been tweeting down the days, much to the excitement of their scores of loyal fans. 

Broadcast live on YouTube, Cheryl Cole, Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding and Nadine Coyle will finally unveil their plans - which are expected to consist of a new album and tour after details were accidentally revealed on the Universal Music site earlier this morning.
