Feisty five Cheryl Cole, Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts, Nadine Coyle and Sarah Harding – aka Girls Aloud – are about to make their long awaited chart comeback after taking a break three years ago.
But, ahead of their expected single release on Friday, their new track Something New has appeared online. After the single was leaked yesterday, the girl band have taken to Twitter to announce the official release of an audio clip which can be found on YouTube and their website.
Fans have been beside themselves with excitement since the girls re-launched their website, started tweeting from an official Girls Aloud account and set off a ten day countdown last Tuesday.
There had already been plenty of speculation prior to the announcement that the girls were poised to make their comeback, as this year marks the band's tenth anniversary.
Girls Aloud formed during 2002's Popstars: The Rivals and went on to become international stars, topping the charts with songs like Love Machine, Call the Shots and The Promise.
In the last three years, the girls have pursued solo careers in music, acting and presenting, with Cheryl Cole a former X Factor judge and Kimberley Walsh currently a contestant on the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.
Yesterday, a 20-second clip thought to be a sneak peek of the girl's new music video appeared on YouTube, and a clip of the new track Something New swiftly followed.
From the sound of this catchy new song – which features the lyric "We're the leaders of the pack. You'd better watch your back" – the girls are well and truly back on form...
