Helmed by Ridley Scott, this epic historical drama starring Orlando Bloom, Eva Green and Liam Neeson follows Balian – the illegitimate blacksmith son of a French nobleman – who inherits his father’s title and comes to the aid of Jerusalem’s kindly king (Edward Norton).

Limitless – 9:00pm, Sky Movies Sci-Fi & Horror

Struggling writer Eddie Mora (Bradley Cooper) stumbles across an experimental drug that transforms his inert brain into a force of intellect and creativity. But he soon discovers the drug’s dangerous side-effects and must protect his precious stash from the shadowy figures determined to hunt him down. Also starring Robert De Niro.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall – 10:00pm, ITV2

Romantic comedy from the team behind The 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up, about Peter Bretter – a musician who books a holiday to mend his broken heart, but discovers to his horror that his ex Sarah Marshall and her new rock star boyfriend (Russell Brand) are staying in the same hotel.

The Name of the Rose – 12:15am, BBC1

Medieval thriller starring Sean Connery as Franciscan friar William of Baskerville who, along with his young novice Adso (Christian Slater), investigates a series of murders in a remote 14th century Italian abbey.

Makdee – 1:50am, Channel 4


Subtitled Bollywood fantasy starring Shabana Azmi, about an impish village girl whose impersonation of her identical twin sister Munni backfires, leading her to a mysterious mansion inhabited by a wicked witch named Makdee.
