A new poster featuring a brooding Daniel Day-Lewis heralds the next upcoming venture from director Steven Spielberg.

Lincoln, which also stars the likes of Tommy Lee Jones and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, is expected to focus on the clashing political tension between the 16th President and his cabinet during the American Civil War. 

It is based on the award-winning biography, Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln, by Doris Kearns Goodwin.

Lincoln is due for UK release in January 2013.
