Over two decades after it was last shown on BBC1, US supersoap Dallas is coming back to British screens, with 5 September officially announced today as the air date for the first new episode.

The return of JR, Bobby and Sue Ellen Ewing, and the unveiling of a new generation of infighting oil barons, will get a primetime 9pm slot on Wednesdays on Channel 5.

Southfork veterans Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray were among the stars at last night's UK launch for the ten-part series, which premiered in the US on the TNT network.
