He said he’d be back (in fact he’s made that assertion in pretty much every film since The Terminator) and, true to his word, Arnie will soon be making his return to the world of action cinema with considerable aplomb as the star of Kim Jee-Woon’s new movie The Last Stand.
After taking a seven-year break from blasting the bejeezus out of big screen bad guys to run the state of California, the now ex-Governator is back in his first starring role since 2003’s Terminator 3 as the gun-totin’ sheriff of a sleepy town out to bag the pelt of the most dangerous drug-runner in all of America.
The movie’s newly-released trailer makes this out to be quintessential Arnie fare, packed with quips, explosive set pieces and bucketloads of machismo:
The Last Stand also features turns from Forest Whitaker and Jackass’s Johnny Knoxville and will be released in the UK early next year, on Friday 25 January.
If you can’t wait that long, however, Arnie’s back on the big screen later this month with a smaller role in Sly Stallone’s all-star action romp The Expendables 2.
