American viewers got a double dose of 007 during Danny Boyle’s spectacular Olympics opening ceremony when a new trailer for Skyfall was broadcast on US TV during the event.

As well as watching the secret agent escorting the Queen to Stratford’s Olympic Park, American audiences also saw James Bond riding a motorbike over the rooftops of Istanbul, having a saucy romp in a shower, freefalling down a lift shaft and jumping into a collapsing train. And all in the space of 30 seconds…

This new TV spot also gives us a brief first glimpse of Javier Bardem as the villainous Silva and features Daniel Craig's Bond uttering just a single line of dialogue: “007, reporting for duty.”

Skyfall is the first new Bond film to be released in four years and will see the spy defending MI6 itself when the organisation comes under attack.

Directed by Sam Mendes and featuring Ralph Fiennes, Judi Dench and Helen McCrory among its cast, Skyfall will be released in UK cinemas on Friday 26 October.
