After The House on the Edge of the Park, The House by the Cemetery and The Last House on the Left comes another tale about a demonic dwelling to thrill horror movie fans: House at the End of the Street.
Starring The Hunger Games lead Jennifer Lawrence, House at the End of the Street (or HATES, as the film’s social media campaign would have it) is about a mother and daughter who move to a small rural town and find themselves living next door to a house in which a young girl murdered her parents.
Naturally enough, local legend has it that this murderous youngster still haunts the nearby woods and it isn’t long before terrifying things start happening in that accursed abode…
Judging by the trailer, this is going to be an effective little chiller, pitched somewhere between The Ring and Paranormal Activity, and it’s nice to see Hollywood mainstay Elisabeth Shue back in action as the mum:
Directed by actor/filmmaker Mark Tonderai and co-starring Max Thieriot, House at the End of the Street will be released in cinemas on Friday 21 September.
(Oh, as an aside: if you’re after more horrifying homesteads after you’ve seen this, IMDb says there’s a completely unrelated film called House at the End of the Drive coming out later this year too which, shockingly, isn’t being made by The Asylum! Wonders will never cease…)
