Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the meth lab, here’s the trailer for Breaking Bad’s fifth series…

Continuing to chronicle the crime-ridden adventures of terminally ill chemistry teacher-turned-drug lord Walter White, the fifth season of the show looks set to be just as edgy and multilayered as its predecessors. Here, take a look:

This acclaimed series, which The Hollywood Reporter called “one of the greatest dramas in TV history” is set to return to US screens this July but, frustratingly, probably won’t be seen by viewers in the UK until it’s released on DVD.

After having its first two seasons screened to inexplicably unenthusiastic audiences in the UK, first on FX and then 5USA, Breaking Bad is currently without a British broadcaster.

In a Guardian interview, GeekTown.co.uk editor Dave Elliot expressed the belief that, owing to Breaking Bad’s stateside success, its cost per episode has gone up, and that fact coupled with "Channel 5's bizarre scheduling of season two" means "you end up with a show that's very expensive to buy but which has already aired on two different channels.”

But what do you think? Would you like to see Breaking Bad, which Charlie Brooker called “the best crime drama ever made,” screened in the UK, or do you think its subject matter’s just too US-centric and esoteric for British TV? Cast a vote in our poll and let us know…
