Sylvester Stallone's take on Judge Dredd didn't really work for many fans of the 2000AD comic character - we'd always envisioned someone a little more like Clint Eastwood in the role. And while at 82 Clint is now a little too creaky to play a gun-toting, thug-smashing law enforcer, judging by this first trailer for the 2012 reboot, star Karl Durden is at least doing his best to bring a bit of whispering Eastwood attitude to the role.
The plot sees Dredd's beat, Mega-City One, plagued by an epidemic of the narcotic Slo-mo, which makes users experience time at 100th of its real speed (good if you're at a fun party, not so good if you're watching an episode of Emmerdale). Drug boss Lena Headey is attempting to take over the city, Dredd and rookie officer Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) are trying to stop her.
There's a nice La Roux soundtrack, there is action, there are explosions and there is Dredd - Judge, Jury and Executioner! Enjoy.
