Russell Brand’s new TV series will make its UK debut on Sky Atlantic next month.
The unscripted Brand X with Russell Brand, in which the hirsute comic shares his take on current events, politics and popular culture with a live studio audience, premieres on Monday 2 July.
Shot in the States, Brand X will give the My Booky Wook author his chance to provide an Englishman's perspective on American culture.
And drawing on his experience of working as a stand-up comedian, each week a large part of the new show will be given over to Brand’s interactions with his audience.
Sky acquisitions manager Lucy Criddle said: “Russell’s distinctive and daring look at the world ensures Brand X with Russell Brand will resonate with Sky Atlantic HD customers.”
A promotional video for the series has been released by US channel FX, which will be screening the show from the end of this month:
Brand, who began his career in live comedy, has become a Hollywood actor in recent years and will be back on the big-screen this summer with a role in the musical Rock of Ages.
