Those in the know on the world of Doctor Who have named the character played by Jenna-Louise Coleman...as Clara.
The BBC has not made an official announcement, but several fans who’ve been snooping around Margam Country Park, near Port Talbot in Wales - where filming is currently taking place - are sure they’ve overheard JLC being addressed as Clara in scenes.
Twitter was set alight last night when Ryan Farrell (one of the aforementioned fans) took a break from tweeting pics from the set to drop this bombshell:
"Jenna Louise is CLARA"
Similar claims have filtered through the Doctor Who message boards and forums this morning.
Could it be true?
Well, there is a little supporting evidence. Former companion to the Doctor Elisabeth Sladen, who sadly died last year, had a middle name. And yes, it was Clara. Could Jenna-Louise’s character name be an homage to the Doctor Who and Sarah Jane Adventures actress?
It would seem a fitting tribute, but it must be said that Doctor Who has a long history of using codenames to keep the fans guessing – so could we just be falling for another of their tricks?
For now, we’ll just have to wait and see…
The new series of Doctor Who will begin on BBC1 this autumn.
