X Factor fans can breathe a little easier today, safe in the knowledge that ITV2 has finally picked its presenting line-up for the after-show proceedings.

It must have been a tricky decision, but in the end they've settled on (drum roll, please)… 2009 X Factor runner-up Olly Murs and One Direction super fan Caroline Flack.

Yes, the same pair as last year.

Once again, Olly and Caroline will bring talent show junkies an extra fix of behind the scenes karaoke-related fun and gossip. But, cod-reggae fans may be upset to hear that Olly won’t feature as heavily in the pre-recorded stages of the programme because he’s off to break America with his music. That's despite a reported friendly warning from producer Simon Cowell earlier this year, telling him that it would be impossible to do both.

Well, mind your backs One Direction, Olly is heading Stateside anyway.

No doubt Caroline will be following his progress very carefully and he’ll be sending back regular reports. Of course, when it comes to the live shows in the autumn he'll be at Caroline’s side every step of the way -- and presumably trying to avoid Cowell breathing down his neck.

But don’t take our word for it. SyCo's chosen ones explain just how exciting this news is...

Caroline said: “I had a fantastic time on The Xtra Factor last year with my TV husband Olly, so, I can’t wait to get started on the show again. Even though Olly and I won’t be reunited in person until the live shows we will be together all the way in spirit, he’s bound to be calling me mid-interview to check what has been happening on the Judges tour to ensure he doesn’t miss out on any crucial gossip!”

Olly said: “I can't wait to get back to The Xtra Factor this year, especially now my partner in crime Caroline is confirmed to be joining me. I know it’s going to be a great year and we'll be grilling the judges and contestants more than ever before.”

The X Factor and The Xtra Factor will return to ITV1 and ITV2 later this summer.
