Over the years the Doctor has waged battles against everyone from Daleks and Cybermen to Weeping Angels, but he often has a helping-hand along the way. As a time-traveller he’s mixed with the great and good of the history books, enlisting assistance from myriad historical figures, including Winston Churchill and Charles Dickens.

A month ago BBC’s Doctor Who website asked readers to recommend one historical figure they’d love the Doctor to meet. Suggestions could be anything from famous writers to brave pioneers – a wonderful dramatic figure or a personal hero. Thousands of replies flooded in and based on the overwhelming response, Executive Producer Caroline Skinner has decided to make it happen.

The Interactive Team will now examine every single submission before recommending their suggestions to Caroline who will make the final decision. A Doctor Who writer will then compose a short story where the Doctor will meet that very figure from history, suggested by fans.

If you haven’t yet submitted your idea don’t worry, you’re not too late. Head to the BBC Doctor Who website now to have your say on who the crew of the Tardis should team up with next.
