Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Hudson will have major recurring guest roles in the fourth series of Glee, it's been announced.
Talking during the US "upfronts" season, during which American TV networks reveal their new shows and their autumn schedules, Fox president Kevin Reilly told reporters that Sarah Jessica Parker will appear in several episodes of the new run, while Kate Hudson will have an eight-episode story arc.
Reilly gave no details of the characters Parker - formerly the star of Sex and the City - or Hollywood romcom specialist Hudson would play. However, he did drop some hints about the shape Glee will take when it returns to US screens.
Glee, Reilly said, is "poised for a real creative renaissance. Several characters are graduating [so] we're going to have a show within a show, following some characters to New York to a school for the arts."
In January it was confirmed that Lea Michele and Chris Colfer, who play Rachel and Kurt, are to remain in the cast.
Reilly also promised that Glee would be "adding some new faces" in the Ohio-set high school scenes.
