Russell Kane to host new BBC3 comedy series

Live at the Electric will celebrate the best new UK comedy talent and feature stand-up, short films, sketches and music

Russell Kane is to host a new late-night comedy show on BBC3.

The award-winning comedian will act as presenter on Live at the Electric, which will gather together the best emerging talent on the UK comedy scene and feature a mix of stand-up, short films, quick-fire sketches and music.

The show will include material from established names such as Humphrey Ker, who was voted Best Newcomer at the 2011 Edinburgh Comedy Awards, Joe Wilkinson, who appeared in BBC3’s Him and Her and Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Nick Helm.

Sketch comedy group Jigsaw and Edinburgh Comedy Award-winning duo Totally Tom will also appear on the programme alongside Tom Crane and Nat Luurtsema.

In addition, Live at the Electric will also introduce viewers to Hari Kondobalu, Lady Garden, Two Episodes of Mash and sketch collective Wittank.

Russell Howard’s Good News producer Dan Atkinson will produce the show with Beth Garrod, and the first edition of Live at the Electric will be broadcast on BBC3 on Thursday 31 May.
