The first picture of Dame Judi Dench on the set of the upcoming James Bond film, Skyfall, has been released.
Dench, who plays Secret Intelligence Service boss M in the movie, appears alongside director Sam Mendes in the new image, which was released to the film’s Facebook page.
In the sedate scene, Dench is looking at a laptop with Mendes, clutching a cup of coffee, to her left, while cinematographer Roger Deakins operates the camera over her shoulder.
Skyfall will be Dench’s seventh outing as M, the actress having appeared in four of Pierce Brosnan’s Bond films and all of those that star Daniel Craig as agent 007.
In an online note, director Mendes admitted his excitement about helming the latest film in the popular spy franchise: “The roots of my doing this Bond movie start way before anybody approached me because, like everyone else, I have my own personal relationship with Bond which began when I was, I suppose, about nine or ten years old. I've always been a fan of the movies.”
Skyfall will be released in cinemas later this year.
