Former glamour model Abi Titmuss says she’s proud to have put her partying days behind her and landed a part in medical drama Casualty.
“I became the embodiment of something that I didn’t have any respect for,” she told Radio Times, speaking about the four years during which she became a staple of lads’ mags, as well as the subject of a leaked sex tape with then-boyfriend, TV presenter John Leslie.
“I clawed my way out of the hole I'd dug myself," Titmuss said. "My self-esteem got so low... that the only thing that would make me feel better was going out and partying and getting my picture taken.”
Titmuss has since quit drinking and her wild lifestyle and is concentrating on acting. The ex-nurse guest-stars in Casualty on Saturday alongside Danny Dyer, and says she landed the role based purely on her acting ability.
“I don’t expect my name to open doors – in fact, in TV it absolutely closes them,” said Titmuss. “But I got this part on merit, despite the fact it was me.”
