Prince Harry says the Queen relies on her husband, Prince Philip, to be able to carry out her hectic roster of public duties.
“These are the things that, at her age, she shouldn’t be doing, yet she’s carrying on and doing them,” Prince Harry told Andrew Marr in an interview for his upcoming BBC programme, The Diamond Queen, excerpts of which are published in the new issue of Radio Times.
“Regardless of whether my grandfather seems to be doing his own thing,” said the Prince, “the fact that he’s there – personally, I don’t think that she could do it without him, especially when they’re both at this age.”
Prince Philip, who recently underwent heart surgery, is 90 years old and the Queen, who celebrates her Diamond Jubilee this year, is 85. She is the second-longest serving British monarch after Queen Victoria.
