Veteran EastEnder Pat Evans’s funeral will be showcased in a special 40-minute episode of the soap next week, and pictures of the Walfordian’s final sendoff have now been released.

Reverend Stevens will officiate the ceremony, which sees Pat’s friends and family gather to celebrate the iconic Albert Square resident’s life.

During the funeral, Pat’s stepson Ricky (Sid Owen) is overcome with emotion while trying to deliver a eulogy, leaving Janine (Charlie Brooks) to step in and pay a final moving tribute.

Viewers will then see Pat’s coffin carried out to the strains of one of her favourite songs, Sweet Caroline, before the first handfuls of earth are thrown onto her coffin.

During the emotional turmoil of the day, David Wicks (Michael French) and Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) declare their love for one another.

But David’s future hangs in the balance as Derek Branning (Jamie Foreman) has threatened to come after Wicks as soon as Pat is buried…

Pat’s funeral will be aired as part of the extended episode of EastEnders on Friday 13 January at 8pm on BBC1/BBC1 HD.
