She won’t be doing a song and dance routine to a Lady Gaga cover but Oscar-winning actress and national treasure Helen Mirren will be appearing in an episode of Glee – as the inner voice of one of the characters.

There’s no news as yet on whose internal monologue Dame Helen will be providing but US viewers will be able to find out first hand when the episode, entitled Yes/No, airs there on 17 January - and UK fans can watch it on Sky1 later in the New Year, when Glee returns from hiatus. 

Sky secured the rights to the current third series of the high school-set musical comedy drama after outbidding Channel 4, who originally brought it to UK audiences.
