Ant and Dec will remain exclusively contracted to ITV until December 2013.
The Geordie duo, best known for presenting Britain’s Got Talent and I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! for the commercial broadcaster, have signed a multi-million-pound “golden handcuffs” deal committing them to ITV for another two years.
As well as continuing with the big talent shows, the new deal will include a return of the pair’s family variety format Saturday Night Takeaway, and a reprisal of presenting duties on Simon Cowell’s high-concept game show Red or Black?, should it be recommissioned.
ITV officials have said the contract terms remain “broadly in line” with the previous deal, reportedly worth £5 million per person, per year.
Ant and Dec have been exclusively contracted to ITV since 2000. They presented Saturday-morning children’s magazine show SMtv Live and CD:UK alongside Cat Deeley on ITV for a further two years before that.
Having begun their television careers on BBC children’s drama Byker Grove, since moving to ITV the pair have received 12 National Television Awards, including winning the most popular entertainment category for ten consecutive years.
Ant McPartlin said: “We are really pleased to sign with ITV for another two years and continue to make the programmes we love with the channel.”
Declan Donnelly added: “We always said we would bring back Saturday Night Takeaway, so we’re particularly delighted plans are now in place. We have lots of fresh and exciting ideas for the brand-new series.”
