It looks like TOWIE's Mark Wright is going to swap Brentwood for Brisbane this winter after reportedly signing up to take part in ITV1 reality show, I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
According to tabloid sources (come on it's Friday), the 24-year old structured reality star has accepted £60,000 to leave his BMW and fake tan in Essex and head off to the Australian jungle to feast on a diet of spiders and kangaroo testicles.
The move to ITV1 would give a boost to Wright's profile and pay-packet. "Essex" stars only receive around £50 a day for taking part in the show which pulls in around 1.5 million viewers on ITV2. Celeb, on the other hand, can easily draw 10 million viewers in the run up to Christmas on ITV1 and is a well-trodden path for those hoping to monetise their 15 mins of fame.
Unlike his TOWIE co-star, Amy Childs, who ditched ITV2 to peruse greater opportunities with Celebrity Big Brother and her own show on Channel 5 earlier this year, it's unclear whether Wright's departure from ITV2's ratings behemoth would be a permanent one. That may well depend on the amount of money Iceland offer him to front an ad campaign...
ITV have so far remained tight lipped about this year's Celeb contestants, although hot tips for the jungle currently include veteran comedian Freddie Star, injunction pin-up Imogen Thomas, Tamara Ecclestone and X Factor 2010's Wagner.
