Actress Jennifer Grey, best known for her role as Frances “Baby” Houseman opposite Patrick Swayze in romantic drama Dirty Dancing, is to stand in for Strictly judge Len Goodman on the weekend of 5 and 6 November.
She’ll have to hold her own against seasoned nitpickers Craig Revel Horwood, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli but, as we all know, “nobody puts Baby in a corner”.
Grey knows all too well the pressure the celebrities will be under as they take to the dancefloor – she herself won Dancing with the Stars, the US version of the show, last year with the help of professional partner Derek Hough.
She said: “I am delighted to be involved. I so look forward to making the pilgrimage to the birthplace of the greatest dance show, the mecca of spray tans and tangos, and to sit in for the great and pernickety Len Goodman.”
Goodman’s commitments to both Strictly Come Dancing and sister show Dancing with the Stars mean he's taking a week off, but viewers and dancers alike can look forward to seeing his familiar friendly face again from 12 November.
