America Ferrera, star of hit US sitcom Ugly Betty, is to make her West End stage debut starring in Chicago as Roxie Hart, who dreams of glamour and fame.
Her eight-week run in the role from 7 November will take place as the show celebrates its 15th year in London, with its actual anniversary on 18 November.
Ferrera will star at the Garrick Theatre, London, opposite Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly. There's no word yet on who is to play the lawyer, Billy Flynn.
While Ferrera is new to her Chicago role, Wright has already been playing hers on Broadway and reports say that Ferrera's next project will be her own Broadway debut with The Miss Firecracker Contest next year.
The best-known performance of Roxie Hart was Renée Zellweger's in the 2002 Oscar-winning film but on stage she's been played by a succession of celebrities including Christie Brinkley, Brooke Shields, and pop stars Ashlee Simpson and Michelle Williams.
