ITV Drama has recommissioned its most successful new dramas of 2011: crime shows Vera, Scott & Bailey and Case Sensitive, plus the James Nesbitt medical series Monroe.
"It's terrific to think we are commissioning the most watched and appreciated original dramas for the ITV1 audience," said ITV Drama's Laura Mackie. "We couldn't be more delighted with the success."
Production has already begun on four Vera films starring Brenda Blethyn. Filming will start on eight new episodes of Scott & Bailey in October, with Lesley Sharp and Suranne Jones. Monroe's second series will run for six episodes - they begin filming next year.
No date has been announced for when Case Sensitive resumes production, but a new two-part tale is being made and will again star Olivia Williams and Darren Boyd. The story will be based in part on Sophie Hannah's book The Other Half Lives.
All four shows are expected to air in 2012 and join ITV Drama's previous recommissions The Suspicions of Mr Whicher and Trevor Eve's Kidnap & Ransom.
