What's on

Turn up the heat this winter with the sizzling excitement of the very best of London’s West End. Across the worlds of theatre, musicals and opera, this guide tells you exactly which shows will send your spirits soaring as the nights draw in.

If you fancy the breathtaking thrills of a blockbuster musical you’re in for a real treat. This season sees the opening of the hotly anticipated Viva Forever!, the new musical based on the songs of the Spice Girls, and The Bodyguard, adapted from the smash-hit movie. And of course with timeless classics such as Les Misérables and Mamma Mia! still dazzling audiences night after night, London is simply musical heaven.

The Olympics may be over, but the capital is still pulsing with electrifying drama and big name stars. The Audience will see Helen Mirren returning to the role of Queen Elizabeth II, while Quartermaine’s Terms will mark Rowan Atkinson’s first stage play in almost 25 years. And for the opera lovers, the extraordinary English National Opera continues to stage world-renowned productions including Carmen and Don Giovanni, right in the heart of theatreland. We’ve had a breathtaking summer in 2012, now it’s time for an unforgettable winter!

Let us entertain you...

The Audience

Gielgud Theatre, London

Stephen Daldry directs Helen Mirren in the world premiere of Peter Morgan’s The Audience. For sixty years Elizabeth II has met with her Prime Ministers in a weekly audience at Buckingham Palace. Both parties have an unspoken agreement never to repeat what is said. Not even to their spouses. The Audience breaks this contract of silence - and imagines a series of pivotal meetings between the Downing Street incumbents and their Queen.
