Our Score
Low-budget British movies starring Danny Dyer, Craig Fairbrass and a bunch of female extras pulled out of the nearest Spearmint Rhino club usually revolve around gangsters or football hooligans. Just for the Record tries to be something smarter and funnier - though it fails abysmally. It's a mockumentary about the making of a micro-budget romantic comedy set in a record shop - a cursed production during which everything goes wrong. Trying to piece together what happened is our intrepid narrator (Rik Mayall) who interviews everyone involved from drunk lead actor (Billy Murray) to the pretentious director (Roland Manookian) and the clueless executive producer (Dyer, doing Terry-Thomas-via-Essex impression). Moronic and charmless, the end result is as much of a disaster as the film-within-a-film. Only Steven Berkoff's turn as the crotchety director of photography - convinced that Hitchcock died so he didn't have to use digital cameras - raises a rare chuckle.

Summary

A journalist investigates the story of a film that fell apart during production. Tracking down the cast and crew of the movie, he discovers the remarkable story of how a series of unprecedented disasters brought the shoot crashing to a halt. Spoof documentary, with Danny Dyer, Sean Pertwee, Rik Mayall and Steven Berkoff.
