In this family-friendly comedy, Jackie Chan stars as the retired secret agent whose attempt to sustain a relationship with next-door neighbour Amber Valletta is not only hampered by the antipathy of her three children, but also his previous profession coming back to haunt him. As veteran action icon Chan gets older, his films often target younger viewers, many of whom may only know him from his animated TV series rather than his career-making martial arts movies. Here, his likeable presence is a major plus, and his target audience will respond to his baddie-bopping agility and not worry about the corny, predictable plot. The movie also gives smartly written roles to its junior cast (Will Shadley, Madeline Carroll) while the story is a tongue-in-cheek entertainment that sees Chan's superspy tangle with Russian villains while trying to babysit Valletta's terrible threesome. Young fans of CBeebie's LazyTown may be interested to see Magnus Scheving (better known as Sportacus) as Chan's adversary here.
