Subtitled From Here to Maternity, the fourth Carry On to be set in a hospital is the last in the series that manages to surmount the shortcomings of its script and be consistently funny throughout. The regulars are present and correct, with Hattie Jacques in the title role as the object of consultant Kenneth Williams's confused affections, while Sid James plays a crook who leads a raid on the clinic where they work to steal contraceptive pills. Amid the innuendo, cross-dressing and crude slapstick, there are lovely cameos from Kenneth Connor as a nervous dad-to-be and Joan Sims as an overdue mum.
Plot Summary
Comedy starring Sidney James and Kenneth Williams. Petty criminal Sid Carter masterminds a scheme to steal contraceptive pills from a maternity hospital and sell them abroad. In order for Sid's gang to gain entry to the hospital, his son Cyril has to pose as a nurse.
