A Holiday for Love

A Holiday for Love

Jerry London (1996)

Our Score
British TV audiences must be a sucker for slushy film titles, since this mistletoe movie was called Christmas in My Hometown in the US. If you want a holiday romance you've got it, in the shape of a businessman (Tim Matheson) who travels to his Nebraska home town to make cutbacks at a tractor factory. But his plans receive a setback when he falls for local woman Melissa Gilbert. There's a pleasant chemistry between the leads, but Matheson has lost the sparkle he once had in his juvenile days in The Virginian and Animal House and it's the blandest of Christmas couplings.

A hard-nosed businessman returns to his home town in Nebraska at Christmas to organise large-scale redundancies at the factory which supports most of the families in the area. As the season of goodwill draws near, he finds himself falling in love with a member of the workforce. Drama, starring Tim Matheson, Melissa Gilbert and Michelle Trachtenberg.
